Competitions
Each year there are multiple optional dance competitions available for students ages 5+, competing from a regional level, all the way up to a National level!
These competitions are completely optional and are in no way required of students!
Interclubs
Interclub competitions are a chance for all competitors to get on the stage and perform the syllabus routines that they have learnt throughout the year. These competitions are an amazing opportunity for individuals to step outside their comfort zone and perform on a stage in front of a crowd!
Each year PMPD attend 3 Interclub competitions as a club. The competition that we attend is deliberated upon and chosen by the PMPD Teachers & Committee, ensuring the opportunity for as many students as possible to be able to attend. Interclubs are hosted by other APDA Clubs and bring together clubs from all over NSW & QLD between July & August, and are always held on a weekend.
Teams
Alongside individual competitions, Port Macquarie Physie & Dance aim to get teams from all age categories on the stage each year!
Teams brings along another challenge for our students throughout the year, focusing on precision, timing, teamwork & positioning. Teams practices are held during normal class times, so there is no extra commitment from students or families to get teams on the competition floor
As always, Teams is not compulsory in any way! If a teacher believes that they have enough students to make a team they will approach both students and families to ensure that they understand what is involved to make a team happen
Zone/Qualifiers
Qualifiers/Zone competitions are held in the later part of the year, and are the lead in to APDA Nationals!
These competitions put students up against others from all over Australia to compete for a place at Nationals! These competitions are a incredible opportunity to not only see where each student shines, but also to see where each student has to work a little bit harder to level up!
Nationals
Novice Senior Nationals are held on Seniors Weekend in Sydney
Beginner, Novice, Intermediate & Masters Ladies Nationals are held on Ladies Weekend in Sydney
Juniors, Open Seniors & Open Ladies Nationals are held at APDA Nationals Weekend in Sydney
APDA wants to ensure that all students get an equally amazing experience at Nationals, so they have split it over 3 different weekends in the last quarter of the year. Nationals is an absolutely amazing experience that our Teachers will nuture and support all students to be a part of if that is their goal!
